Haircare Tips for Balayage and Ombré Hairstyles
Balayage and ombré hairstyles are super popular right now. Though it isn’t surprising as both styles of highlighting and colouring give your hair a distinctively elegant flair with the polish and radiance you deserve.
This doesn’t mean you don’t want to take care of your hair, though, even if they are low-maintenance hairstyles. If you want to preserve the colour for as long as possible, then check out the hair care tips in this blog for balayage and ombré hairstyles.
Weekly ombré and balayage treatments
Even though you don’t need to visit the salon on a weekly basis, you still need a weekly haircare routine to keep your colour looking bright and glowing.
That’s why we recommend doing a weekly deep moisturising treatment for your balayage and ombré hair. Moisturising your hair with a natural oil like almond oil helps rehydrate your hair and keeps it looking fresh and vibrant for longer.
To moisturise your balayage or ombré hair properly, first, rinse your hair to prep the cuticle, massage in the oil, then simply wrap up your hair and wait – the longer you wait, the more moisturised your hair will be. Then all you have to do is wash and condition as normal. Sometimes, it’s the simplest method that really works!
Don’t wash your hair every day
Over washing can damage your hair by stripping your hair of its natural oils and, ultimately, dulling your beautiful colour. To keep your balayage or ombré hair looking fantastic, try washing your hair 2-3 times a week. If you need to, why not try using a dry shampoo in between washes?
Be careful of things like chlorine in swimming pools, direct sunlight and its damaging UV rays, and hair products with lots of sulphates in them, which can actually strip colour from hair.
Visit your salon for a touch-up
Even with the best washing, conditioning, moisturising, and maintenance regime, everyone’s balayage and ombré hair will eventually need a colour touch-up to keep you looking your best.
To freshen up those highlights and colour, pop into the salon for a quick balayage or ombré boost. We recommend getting your colour touched up every few months, but it’s really up to you.
That’s the beautiful thing about balayage and ombré hair, it’s entirely up to you and how you like it, from the tone to the shade, to the number of touch-ups and recolouring appointments you make.
Balayage and ombré hairstyles are easy to maintain if you follow a few simple steps. If you have any questions about maintaining balayage or ombré hair colouring, pop into our hair salon in Manchester or get in touch today!
